Day 38, November 4, Paris

We woke up and took the subway to the hotel. Rainy as predicted. Once we got there we got movin pretty quickly. The subway from the hotel dropped us off right at the louvre which was really nice. We did have to wait in line for about 30 minutes while everyone tried to sell us umbrellas. Once we made it in there were so many different exhibits, so much art and history. Almost all the plaques were in French so I couldn’t read anything other than the title and the artists name which sucked but it was still amazing. A lot less crowded than the Vatican museum too, so that was nice.

Nate was pretty hangry not too far into it and his dad’s hangriness was short to follow. They lost steam quick, one after another. We found out you could leave and come back because your ticket is good all day. So we went back toward that same area we were at yesterday towards Notre Dame. We found a little pizzeria and we all ordered something different which was cool. It was all amazing and the staff was really nice. I even gave the chef a thumbs up after the meal when he came out of the kitchen to look around. He smiled and threw one right back. People warned us that people in Paris were so rude and other than the standard jerk here and there everyone has been really nice to us, we haven’t had any problems. It’s been amazing. We got by with our lack of French and they try and help us with their lack of English and it works out every time.

We hit some dessert stores but I was stuffed, and then we hit this knick knack store and I have no room in my backpack for anything but I found some stuff I can sneak into crevasses for some small thinkin about you Christmas presents for the fam when I get home. Nothin too overpriced so it was worth spendin some of the little money I have left on.

Let me start a new paragraph to give a huge shout out to Nate’s parents taking us to restaurants we would probably never go to on our own based on our end of the trip budget and paying for us to climb the Eiffel Tower and see the louvre. I love them both a ton and am thankful they have kind souls and wanted to spend part of their vacation with us.

We walked back to the louvre and it was funny because now that everyone was full it didn’t seem like as long of a walk on the way back as much as it was a struggle to get there especially for Nate and his dad. We toured the parts we hadn’t seen yet and found a place with all the history behind how and why it was made which was really interesting and then we decided to go back home. We grabbed some snacks and a couple 6 packs and some food for the train tomorrow, a final French baguette which has been a major staple in my Paris diet and then Nate and I went back to the hostel to shower and pack our bags so we could help Nate’s parents navigate their way to the train station and help them carry their luggage. Somehow without knowing until yesterday we were all booked on the same train, just different parts so we’d be in Amsterdam together all three days. Not the whole time, but some of the time since we all fly home from there on Tuesday back to Vancouver and then home.
