Our alarms were set for 5:00 but we got a wake up call at 4:00 when the Argentinians wandered in wasted and made more noise than a jackhammer outside your classroom. Seemed like they had a good night but were not considerate of everyone sleeping. Oh well, that’s what you get sometimes in a hostel.
I tried to fall asleep again but the guy above me was snoring loud. Somethin about that bed seems to make everyone snore at an extremely loud volume. We woke up at five, packed our bags and went on our way. It was freezing outside but we made it to the train and were in for another 10 hour train ride day.
Our train was delayed and we had five minutes to catch the transfer to the next train. We made it, don’t worry. On that train I couldn’t put down my book, made it halfway through and am kinda pissed that I’m gonna need to somehow squeeze another book in my backpack for the plane ride home even though my backpack has no room. We made it to Nice at 16:00 to an ugly storm but luckily our hostel was a one minute walk from the train. We got situated in our rooms and napped, which was becoming customary on travel days.
*Pop up note: Travel days can throw you out of sync, especially long travel days, but when you’re traveling you are having so much fun that you can bounce back with ease.
Our hostel offered free wine every night at 19:00 so we grabbed a bite to eat then went back to the hostel to drink some wine and take it easy knowing the storm was gonna pass the next day. It took everything in me not to open my book and finish it but we had another long train ride to Madrid coming up and I knew I’d need it. We went to our rooms and binge watched Netflix until we fell asleep, the only appropriate thing to do during a storm in a foreign city. A Netflix original Luke Cage for those wondering.
