Since we lost a day we decided to cancel our Belgium trip and spend 3 full days in Paris. And since we were staying that meant we got to hangout with Nate’s parents again, because originally we were going to meet them in Amsterdam after Brussels but now we can hangout with them sooner and they were pretty hyped about that.
We got to Paris at 9:00. We traveled double the distance in about a third of the time as the day before which was annoying. Our hostel was right next to the main train station, unfortunately we got dropped off at a different station that was an hour walk away but we hadn’t walked much the day before so we decided to walk it. Once we left the train station it was cold. Coldest it’s been so far. We could see our breath. By the time we got to the hostel we couldn’t check in until 13:00 so we had to lug our backpacks around a few hours while we grabbed food and waited.
Once we checked in we decided to walk around but it was really cold and the main part of town where all the sites we wanted to see were down by the river so we decided to just explore our part of town. We ended up finding this really cool structure. Not really sure what it was but it was dusk and on our way up to check it out we got approached by some guys that grabbed our wrists and started tying these bracelets on our wrists but I told them right away I don’t have money I don’t want it. They said it’s okay, don’t be afraid as I kept pullin my wrist away. They were insistent and I just let it happen. Then when they were done they said okay now pay; I said I have no money, I can’t pay for this. They all got mad at me. I said look, all I have is 20 cents and they didn’t even want that because it was disrespectful. Meanwhile, the same thing was happening to Nate and they hustled him for 5 euro and he was pissed. That ruined Nate’s day.
He was already a little pissed about not making it to Paris that first day and this just really frustrated him. He was ready to be on our way from Paris and I said the next couple days seeing the sights will be so much better than today. We found a restaurant close to the hostel and ate there and hung out a while. Then we went down to the bar, watched some soccer, and went to bed knowing we were gonna go meet Nate’s parents in the morning and hit the Eiffel Tower and other places.
