Day 30, October 27, Barcelona

Nate’s parents are early birds but they out slept us for the first time ever. They both woke up at 11:00, but they had been flying a bunch and I’m sure it caught up to them. We went and found a place to eat before deciding we wanted to go toward this really cool castle type thing Nate and I saw while walking to the hotel from the train station. I was curious why there are so many restaurants that serve fried eggs with a bunch of different types of foods in Spain or if they were just trying to Americanize their menus. Apparently eggs are pretty common in Spain based on some of the websites I came across. But it was nice because all the eggs had extremely yellow yokes so you know it’s free range eggs not those abused caged chicken eggs from home.

I was stuffed after the meal because not only did I finish my plate but I polished off some of Nate’s parents plates too. Typically Nate and I eat and don’t get too full and then walk around all day and are just always hungry but I was extremely full off that meal so it was a good change. We walked toward the castle lookin thing we wanted to show them and they were just in awe by the structures, buildings, and shops. It was both of their first time in Europe so it was really cool to see their raw reactions for the first time and explore a city we’ve all never been to together.

We passed a fountain in front of this massive castle lookin thing that turned out to be a fountain that had a light and water show every Friday and Saturday night so we thought we’d do that the next night. We made our way up to the castle to find out it was a museum but instead of going in we decided to walk around it and explore since there was so much to see around it. We also had a great view of the entire city and it was really pretty with all the red roofs and castles in the distance. I was still full and we made our way back to the hotel to rest our legs a bit and I ended up taking a little siesta while Nate caught up with his parents over drinks in the room.

When I woke up I joined the festivities and we went and explored again, just to see the city. We were out and about until midnight or so and I don’t even remember if we ate or not but we ended up just going back to the hotel, showering and then sheets.
